Sound Therapy North East In Gosforth

Making self care experiences part of everyday life.

After many conversations with our fabulous WOW!©️ workshop facilitators, I can safely say I have embraced self-care to the hilt.

So here, I’m asking you, what personal problems do you have that need your attention and that can be addressed by actively embracing a self-care experience?

I’ll share with you my own example to help give you an idea of what I’m talking about.

Since I was a child, I have struggled with getting enough quality sleep to allow me to function at a reasonable (and sensible) level.

I struggle to fall asleep. And then, if I wake, I struggle to get back to sleep, no matter how hard I try. I am the princess from the story “The Princess and the Pea”. My bed is perfect, or else I can’t sleep. The slightest noise, and I’m awake. Strangely, rain on the roof and windows is soothing. Maybe it’s my own version of “white noise”.

The sound of the sea, especially when it’s raging, helps me too.

I have often woken feeling like I’ve never slept. When my CFS is at its worst, and I need more rest, sleep alludes me and I’m left lying for hours with my brain dancing the crazy dance of the night time imps! You know the imps? The ones who asked stupid questions all night long, like….do penguins have knees?

I recently met Edwina who has Sound Therapy North East based in Gosforth, Newcastle. She’s the only person anywhere near me who does what she does.

She practices Bio-Tuning®️ which helps our brains to relax. So not just sleep, but stress, anxiety, illness too.

After one session with Edwina, things made a big shift. The experience involves lying on a massage bed, but this bed vibrates and sound waves pulsed through me. I wore a headset and listened to what I’d loosely describe as a “tune”.

Wearing sticky electrodes on my wrist pulse points, Edwina monitored my brain waves to establish the point at which I relaxed and let go. I definitely went to sleep.

From this cosy, warm and very enjoyable experience, Edwina produced a 30 minute sound therapy that is completely bespoke to my brains needs. I listen to this using my headset via my laptop.

I’m not saying all is perfect already. It will take time for my brain to unpick a lifetime of broken sleep habits, and repave those neural pathways. What I do know is, in three weeks I’ve woken up maybe three times in the night. Mostly I’m sleeping from 10.30pm to 6am. The other morning, I woke up at quarter to eight. For me, that’s crazy. I can also physically feel the benefit. When I’m asleep, I’m sure it’s a deeper, more restorative place than ever before. My daytime energy levels are vastly improved. I skip along when I walk the dog. I’m not sleepy through the day. My brain function is off the scale.

Edwina will be joining us at WOW 2025 but before that you can find her at https://www.soundtherapynortheast.com/
