Making a celebration of yourself
Across the planet, we celebrate different things. Christians, it’s Easter. The biggest feast of the year. Kids are allowed chocolate for breakfast. Yummy!
For Muslims, it was Eid al-Fitr. A time for family and festivities. Everyone feasting and having a great time.
For Pagans, the seasons are welcomed and celebrated with dancing and fire and light.
A celebration of life.
And there are many different deities worshipped in this world.
In human history, there are estimated 18,000 different gods across many belief systems.
This got me thinking! For our own self
care, is it good to worship ourselves? To appreciate and show gratitude for our brains, our beautiful bodies and our ability to feast with each other and share our tables?
Did that last paragraph make you stop and maybe feel a little bit uncomfortable?
Really…..worship ourselves? Is that not….somewhat….indulgent?
Think about it. You are here. You. This being that has DNA from an incredible line of humans who met, survived whatever the hell was going on. Made and created a human, who did the same year for generation, after generation after generation.
There will have been approximately 8,000 generations since the evolution of
anatomically modern humans about 200,000 years ago, to make the ONE AND ONLY YOU.
F*ck! Isn’t that something to celebrate? Isn’t that a phenomenon worth respecting? A chain of events that resulted in an incredible person.
Amazing. Individual. Strong. Splendid!
